Production began in 2009 but the film was delayed due to a lack of funding. Funders balked since the cast was all-black with no major white roles.
Initially when I heard about it I thought it was a documentary about the 40 year Tuskegee experiment where blacks were knowingly injected with syphilis to discover the natural progression of the untreated diesease.
I am happy I went to support it.
